The Nashville Ruby on Rails meetup group met last night (Nov 19) at Centresource. I did the presentation on Behavior Driven Development and using Cucumber. In the first half I used some slides to explain why develop "outside in"--going from descriptions of the software first to writing the code second. The second half we implemented two features from scratch using Cucumber to drive the code. Here are my slides:
I learned some great stuff myself during the presentation. Daniel Nelson pointed at a couple things that will save me at least 15 minutes every single day, and Travis Roberts tipped me off that to a content-editor I might start using in projects. We are planning to take off December, and start back up again in January.
