A Christian: unexpectedly.Something happened to me while I was backpacking in South Africa–I was reconciled to God by faith in Jesus Christ. That’s kinda weird. I didn’t really realize I was living and thinking in darkness and disobedience.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved me, even when I was dead in my trespasses, made me alive together with Christ—by grace I had been saved.
That is really cool; and has been the controlling influence in my life ever since. When that happened I felt as if I had been born again–as if I had just taken my first breath in my whole life.

I live with my wife Stephie in an old house we are working on in East Nashville.
We moved to Nashville in 2005, and East Nashville in 2006, and this house on Meridian St. in 2009. Lord willing we hope to stay and raise a family of many children here.
We love travelling, especially overseas. We have been to South Africa (and bordering countries), India and Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam, New Zealand, and Ecuador.
We are expecting our first baby in January 2010.
I do web-development because I get so much happiness out of being productive; and web-development with Ruby on Rails is very enjoyable and productive.
We live close to downtown Nashville on Meridian St. near Dickerson and Cleveland streets. We love it! Contact me if you’d like to come visit.
We are renovating it, and it’s fun.
This house is huge and it’s going to take a while.

The Southwestern Company
Most of my work history has been different roles in the same company–the Southwestern Company. Southwestern recruits college students into a sales training boot camp selling childrens’ books door-to-door. It’s an awesome experience and incredibly intense. The only thing I have heard of that uses the same vocabulary for how hard yet rewarding it is is joining the Marines.
I sold books with Southwestern for 6 summers. My first summer I made (after expenses) about $7,000. My best summer I made (after expenses) about $39,000.
I worked for Southwestern for 3 years as an accountant, as a management trainee, as a business start-up analyst and as a online product developer.
By the grace of God, I have been able to travel to many countries. My longest trip was when I was 20–I went to Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam, India, Egypt, and Europe. Another time I got to backpack southern Africa. My wife and I travelled for 4 months to Southeast Asia, India/Nepal, and New Zealand. Most recently, we went to Ecuador for 2 weeks to satisfy our travel bug.
We’ve settled down into Nashville, but always have some thought of another great trip one day.
